Western Canada ski resort opening dates 2025-26

Ski season is on in Western Canada, with ski resorts in both Alberta and BC now open! Lake Louise, Sunshine, Mt Norquay and Nakiska are now open in Alberta, and Whistler and Powder King in BC. More Alberta and BC resorts will be opening soon, as temperatures dip and snow blows in.
So, when will your favourite Alberta or BC ski resort be opening? Typically, Alberta ski resorts lead the way in November. BC ski resorts join in later in November and into December. Dates below represent the most current information from resorts.
We've compiled the most up-to-date list of opening dates for Alberta and BC ski resorts (official and projected) here. These dates are updated regularly as resorts announce official opening days, so check back often to ensure you're in the know.

Note: all opening dates are subject to change based on weather—no *asterisk next to a date means the resort has officially announced an opening date; *tentative means the resort has declared an date, weather pending; *estimated next to a date indicates that is our best estimate based on historic opening dates for a given resort.
Alberta ski resort opening dates 2025
With cooler temperatures in the eastern front of the Canadian Rockies and the foothills, Alberta ski resorts typically open between early November to early December. Here are projected opening dates for the 2025-26 ski season.

BC ski resort opening dates 2025
Owing to the warmer Pacific climate, BC ski resorts open a little later than Alberta's do, generally. BC hills tend to start opening in late November or early December, with most open by mid-December.
