With Sunshine open for summer skiing through July 5, 2026, you can get away with a little dreaming about next winter.
So when will your favourite Alberta or BC ski resort be opening? Typically, Alberta ski resorts lead the way in November. BC ski resorts join in later in November and into December. Dates below represent the most current information from resorts.
We've compiled the most up-to-date list of opening dates for Alberta and BC ski resorts (official and projected) here. These dates are updated regularly as resorts announce official opening days, so check back often to ensure you're in the know.

Alberta ski resort opening dates 2026
With cooler temperatures in the eastern front of the Canadian Rockies and the foothills, Alberta ski resorts typically open between early November to early December. Here are projected opening dates for the 2026-27 ski season.

BC ski resort opening dates 2026
Owing to the warmer Pacific climate, BC ski resorts open a little later than Alberta's do, generally. BC hills tend to start opening in late November or early December, with most open by mid-December.
