Mid-season Snow Forecast Update for Feb-Apr, 2022

British Columbia

While we were expecting some good holiday and spring skiing, we were happily wrong about a lighter snowfall season as December-January delivered some incredible power days! With a projected continuation of the La Nina effect, the Pacific Northwest is likely going to continue to see mild cold with continuous light snow for the remainder of the season with a few big dumps across the west to send off the 2021/2022 season.

Alberta and the prairies

Our early season predictions did not disappoint with some resorts opening as early as November 5th and nearly all resorts being open early december.

The remainder of the season is looking like we will have consistent snow and a possible handful of powder days, it is also trending towards a slightly longer than normal snow season so we can squeeze a few more days from our season passes.

Snow and snow flurries throughout February into mid March topped off with sunny weather expected consistently throughout the spring ski season. Since the Farmer's Almanac report encompasses the entire prairies region, which includes the drier areas of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, it's not as easy to draw a bead on the Rockies. Forecasted precipitation amounts below may be less accurate for the Rockies region. Our Snow Conditions reports will have the most updated, reliable info.

Eastern Canada

We expected Eastern Canada to be the hot spot for skiing this season, but while the coastal provinces have kept a fair bit of snow on their mountains, Western Quebec through Southern Ontario have dominated the east in terms of snow.

There is no signs of snow slowing down in these snow packed parts of Eastern Canada with plenty of snowfall in the forecast in early February.

STAY IN THE SNOW

Some places may be expecting warmer weather or heavier snow, but it looks like across Canada we still have some good skiing before the weather warms up. If the snow continues as forecasted, we can expect some warm snow days on the tail end of the season which means you can enjoy your mountains without worrying about bundling up too much.
