BC ski resorts open this weekend, kicking off 2024-25 BC ski season

With a fresh sweep of snow to prime the slopes, five of BC's biggest ski resorts are opening! BC skiers and snowboarders can head to Big White, Powder King, SilverStar, Sun Peaks and Whistler this weekend for the first turns of the season. Cypress Mountain in Vancouver is also opening, giving lower mainlanders their first taste of winter action.

And a contest to see who will be first to ride Sun Peaks' new West Bowl Express chair, opening Saturday, should add some stoke to opening weekend!

Big White opening Nov 22

True to its name, Big White had some big snow this week—18cm in 24h, totalling 70cm base snow at the village and 100cm at the top—to help it open a week earlier than originally scheduled!

Opening day lift tickets will be half price, and will continue until further notice from the resort

Sun Peaks opening Nov 23

The big news at Sun Peaks is its new West Bowl Express, which opens this weekend on Saturday Nov 23, and you can enter to be one of eight riders to inaugurate the new chair and terrain.
