What are we thankful for? More snow falls on Alberta, BC mountains over Thanksgiving

For skiers and snowboarders, there was extra reason to be thankful this past weekend as snow blew in across Alberta and BC! Ski resorts including Banff Sunshine, Castle Mountain (pictured above), SilverStar, Nakiska, Lake Louise and more are all reporting snow over the weekend. 

Could be we'll enjoy Thanksgiving leftovers for even longer than anticipated, if the alpine temperatures stay cool.

Four quick tips for ski season 2025-26

Here are four quick things you need to know to be ready: 

4. Ski season is expected to start November 7 with several Alberta resorts targeting the date. Check out opening dates here

3. The long-range winter forecast for 2025-26 looks promising, and could deliver a heavier snow year than the last few. 

2. Season pass early bird rates are ending soon at a number of Alberta and BC resorts, as soon as Oct 15. So if you've been putting it off, get on it now!
