Ski with Santa in Western Canada

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
Take a look at the mountain slopes, they’re glistening once again
With candy canes and powder lanes that glow,

And Santa everywhere you go.

Oh…I could ruin the lyrics to classic tunes all day. But you’d rather find out where to find the Santa this holiday season. Here’s 10 Western Canadian ski resorts where you can spot (and hangout) with Santa Claus during the next few weeks. If you see him, wish him a Merry Christmas for us!

Sun Peaks Resort, Kamloops, B.C.

Santa is no dummy, he can smell a delicious cinnamon bun from miles away and Sun Peaks is known to have ooey-gooey yummy cinnamon buns. That’s what he’ll be eating while he’s skiing and sledding at Sun Peaks on Dec 22 and 23rd.

Whistler Blackcomb, Whistler B.C.

Santa at Whistler Blackcomb

Get out your Santa suit and be one of the first 100 people at the base of Whistler on Santa Day, Dec. 20 to get a complimentary lift ticket.

More details about the entire festive season at Whistler are found here.

Kimberley Alpine Resort, Kimberley, B.C.

Kimberley is all about the family experience. Santa will be spending oodles of time with the kids.

Starting on Dec. 23, you can get your photo taken with Santa at 1pm, followed by helmet and face painting in the afternoon. And, here’s a new one – Smash a Piñata – Santa Style is at 5pm. On Dec 24, meet Santa at the Kidz Tent at 1:45pm for the Balloon Parade at 2pm. Everyone will head up to do a parade down the T-Bar run followed by group photos with Santa.

SilverStar Mountain Resort, Vernon B.C.

SilverStar will have tons of family entertainment for the holidays but make sure you are there for Dec. 24 starting at 4pm for family activities in the square. The torchlight parade is at 5pm, followed by fireworks. Santa will be available after the fireworks to hand out gifts to all the good little girls and boys in the Village Centre (who had their parents pre-register to receive a gift.)

Find out how you can participate in all the events at SilverStar here.

Castle Mountain, Pincher Creek, Alberta

Santa loves popping into Castle Mountain resort on Christmas, mainly because they let him sleep in. Keeping with tradition, Castle Mountain Resort will have reduced operational hours on Christmas Day (11am to 4pm). While Santa catches a few winks, you can enjoy the special breakfast in the lodge. When Santa arrives, expect photos, a candy cane hunt and a chance to ski with Santa.

Look for updates on the Christmas Day events here.

Marmot Basin, Jasper, Alberta

No rest of the man in red. He’ll be Jasper's Marmot Basin Dec. 25 too. Lift tickets are discounted for the festive day from 10am to 3pm. Watch for Santa, he just might have a few extra gifts tucked away! Find out why Jasper was just dubbed the “Best Ski Town in North America” while you are there.

More about Marmot can be found here.
