Black Friday, white weekend: get ski deals, go skiing

Black Friday is a phenomenon like few others in North America. Traditionally a shopping day— or should we say shopping frenzy—held the Friday after Thanksgiving Day in the United States, it’s been called the “kickoff to Christmas shopping” since 1952.
In the last decade, it’s been inching into the Canadian retail market and who can complain? Suddenly we have crazy deals before Christmas.
At SnowSeekers, while we prefer skiing to shopping, we get that some deals are hard to pass up. And there are of course, many ski deals available during this time of year too.
So let's get you connected to the deals so you can save on the ski gear and passes you need and get back to more fun activities, like skiing and snowboarding.

Discount cards like Marmot Basin's Escape Card will save you 50% at the lifts all season long, with no blackout dates.
Have you bought your resort cards yet? One way to save is through the Canadian Ski Council.
Canadian Ski Council Lift Pass discounts
The CSC bundles up Canadian lift passes, so you can buy a bunch for yourself or share with family and favourite friends. Over 30 resorts in BC and Alberta are participating and the best part is, you are not limited as to how many times you can visit a single resort.
The resorts are divided into six different price points from Cross Country to Diamond. Buy packages of tickets from bundles of 5,10 and 20 tickets.

And what about the Grade 4 & 5 Pass? If you sign up in grade 4, you get two seasons of access to over 150 ski areas across the country. Each participating resort offers three free days – and anyone in grade four can figure out that is 450 days of skiing or boarding. It’s only $29.95.

Deals on ski gear
Black Friday or Cyber Monday have deals galore. SportChek is offering up to 70% off select clothing and gear. Sporting Life and Columbia Sportswear both have big sales, but then who doesn’t. The list will be endless and as the saying goes, "Google is your friend."
However, shopping online comes with some risks and it's best to be aware before you enter your credit card info.
Caveat emptor: avoid online shopping scams
I say… grab a mug of coffee on Monday, Nov. 26 and shop carefully. Only use sites you know are trustworthy (as in big names). Avoid any site that you have never seen before.

It’s the biggest shopping day of the year, sure… but it’s also mid-November and ski season is on. We know you’ve got big choices ahead for your weekend and Christmas is coming up. But we have a better suggestion: go skiing.
Sure, we stole the idea from REI’s famous Black Friday promo of yesteryear. But there was brilliance in it and we think we should take it even a step further.
If we're going to spend money, why not feed our souls in the process? Sure, we suppose you could be shopping this weekend, maybe scoring deals on new ski gear… but the season has begun and early season conditions are solid.
So you could spend your time this weekend in the scroll, or the mall, seeking deals, or you could spend that time (and money) on skiing, right now.
