There’s a secret season between fall and winter that only skiers and riders know: the season when every snow brings us closer to opening days at Alberta and BC ski resorts. It’s snow fall season in the mountains, and Thanksgiving brought us plenty to be thankful for.

As you enjoy your turkey leftover sandwiches, take a look at how things are shaping up here and elsewhere in the skiing world. Then pull out the skis, boots, boards and gear, because it won’t be long now—November 6 is the projected opening date for skiing and riding in Western Canada!

And with new snow over Thanksgiving weekend. Alberta and BC ski areas are looking good. Let's have a look.

Moody and we love it.

Sunshine Village, projected to open November 6, reported that the dive is “filling in with freshies.”

No, it’s not open yet. But soon!

Marmot Basin is looking pretty snow covered already, too!

SilverStar, meanwhile, is back doing its best impression of a snow globe.

A reminder: until the ski resorts are open, you should not enter these areas. Early season conditions persist, including avalanche risks, unmarked hazards and construction equipment.

Elsewhere in the skiing world

More signs of the season are showing up in other places, too.

Not far south, in Montana and Utah, ski resorts are also seeing snow.

Bridger Bowl reported eight inches in the last 24h!

Snowbird, in Utah, topped that with 10!

In Europe, the French Alps and the Pyrenees had at least six different ski areas seeing snow.

Meanwhile, in the southern hemisphere, Portillo wrapped a record season.

We know, you can't ski there from here, but doesn't it look dreamy?
