Alberta ski resorts get creative with early season terrain
Sometimes when you're working with Mother Nature you have to get creative. While early snow and snowmaking enabled a trio of Alberta Rockies ski resorts to open in early November, a mild, dry spell slowed momentum ever so briefly ... but not for long!
With a little ingenuity, Sunshine Village opened Nov 11 with a modified opening featuring a hike-to park and the lure of Trappers as its main offerings. But with snowfall through the Rockies over the weekend, Sunshine opened Strawberry chair Monday Nov 13 and more opening days are here again!
This coming weekend Marmot Basin will be next to open, with opening day on Nov 16. Sun Peaks is slated to follow suit Nov 18.
And with new snow at Kicking Horse, SilverStar and others, more BC resorts are on deck. Check out what's up.
Check out opening dates across Alberta and BC, and read on to get the skinny on what’s ahead for skiers and snowboarders.
But first: with a 5-day ski vacay for you and four friends up for the taking, you’ll want to enter this awesome SilverStar contest.
