Snow dance trending, time to get your groove on

The snow dance is trending and we are here for it! It started at RED Mountain and took off like the wave at a sports event, rippling from one ski resort to the next.

Those are the vibes our snow seeking community is all about. It starts with sliding on snow but it’s more than that, it’s making friends on chairlifts, taking in the view from the peaks, raising a shot ski to Ullr and dancing to apres grooves. And a million other little things that elevate skiing and snowboarding beyond recreational sport to subcultural phenomenon.

So join the likes of RED, SilverStar, Mt Seymour, Sun Peaks, Revy, Panorama and Troll, and do your snow dance this week. (Read on to see a roundup of all the fun snow dances so far.)

Trust me, it will do you good.

Snow dance-spiration

It all started with RED Mountain posting a simple video of staff doing their snow dance... which led to this:

The ropes dropped this weekend at Powder King, Fernie, Castle, Pass Powderkeg and Edmonton area resorts (Snow Valley, Rabbit Hill, Edmonton Ski Club, Sunridge).

Here’s some of the action!

Bookmark our ski resort opening dates report to stay up on the latest—we update it semi-weekly (and sometimes daily) as new dates come out.

New chairlift, terrain open now

There were a few notable mountain openings this weekend, as colder temps and snowmaking helped the season advance.

Upcoming events

This weekend in Edmonton the world’s best big air snowboarders will be taking flight at The Style Experience! Year two also features longtime apres-ski scene faves SkiiTour. It’s bound to be good times.

As we contemplate the impact of climate change on our sport and cultural scene, here’s another one to add to your calendar: a virtual LIVE screening of “The Hypocrite” with Protect our Winters, Teton Gravity and Amie Ski.
