Get your kicks at the Horse, with Kicking Horse spring events

On-mountain DJs, Sunsplash Funkfest on tap

Golden, BC  A room with a view is nice, but how about days with views that will kick your socks off! Add in a full slate of awesome après-ski events and you've got the makings of a great spring ski trip to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (KHMR).

“People gotta come to Kicking Horse to believe it,” explains Toby Barrett, guest experiences manager at KHMR. “It's really one of the most unique mountain playgrounds that anyone has ever built lifts too.”

Barrett is spot-on with an invite to come to Kicking Horse anytime post March 21 through the balance of their season to enjoy their spring events series.

Longer days mean lots of time to explore all of Kicking Horse's terrain and views.

“Light is brighter, days are longer and we are celebrating a great season. This one has been monumental and if it's any indication of what is happening right now, conditions are shaping up to be all time right until the end,” says Barrett.

Here is a quick rundown on what’s on the calendar.

Every Saturday now through the closing weekend of April 12, you’ll find a DJ on mountain as part of Kicking Horse’s “Corona Presents Spring DJ Series.”

This might mean you’ll be dancing your cares away on the summit, or down in the village within their new Corona beer gardens.

amp your spring skiing with events, high-alpine adrenaline

With my visit recently, I was reminded just how much of an adventure each and every run is here at the Horse.

Hike T1, aka Terminator Ridge, to score a run called “Truth” that you can get a feel for in this video story below.

TO ADD: reel from Madeline

With almost 30 years' experience on a snowboard, and scoring about 100 days a year, there are not many runs that put my heart in my throat like this run “Truth” does.  A gnarly entrance, with an aggressive vertical drop and into the POW.

It’s about a 30-min hike up the Terminator Ridge, and from the top you have options: run the front side of the ridge, for this run Truth, or drop into the backside of the ridge into Super Bowl.

While hiking Terminator up to T1 you will see the Glory Suspension Bridge, which in summer is the start for the Via Ferrata (Italian for Iron Way).

The ski and snowboard events don’t stop there given Kicking Horse is home to so many impressive hikes. Terminator Ridge (T1 or T2 summits), take the Stairway to Heaven and up to take on the Whitewall. Keep your workouts happening, and take on another 25-30min hike up Ozone.

Doc Pow recommends: a hike up to Ozone, for the advanced riding and epic views.

So many events, so little time—with only weeks to go in Kicking Horse’s season. Get there now.
