Shred legendary RED Mountain with the Ultimate Trip

RED Mountain Resort, Rossland BC — If you’re looking to strike white gold on the slopes, follow the miners, the Red Tomatoes and the serious shredders to RED Mountain Resort, where you’ll find a warm welcome to your next ultimate ski destination and a chance to win a killer RED ski vacation. (Read on...)

There are few places like it: a ski town home to Canada’s richest snow sports history. Soul up to its rafters. A ski resort that is literally lined in gold: back in the day, ore out of Rossland and from RED Mountain fueled the start of the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Not to mention, a place that boasts more shreddable acreage per skier than any of its fellow top 10 largest resorts in Canada.

And the Ultimate Trip contest is your chance to get there, on RED.

This could be your next big ski trip. With uncrowded, spacious lines, chill vibes and in-bounds pay-per-run cat skiing, independently owned RED has been voted #1 Ski Town in USA Today's 10 Best, the last two years running.

All that, plus epic vibes, community and incomparable heritage set this place far apart.

Go here now ‘cause they are closing this beauty of a contest down soon.

Win or not, plan to head to RED this season and you can make your own history, next to the epic heritage of this place. Which brings us back to miners and red tomatoes. So what's the deal here?

Miners: the early years at RED

While digging ore from the nearby mountains, miners procured parts from the mine and built themselves Canada’s first ever chairlift here on the slopes of RED Mountain.

Why? Because there wasn’t one there and they all decided it would be handy.

Rossland is steeped in snow and pays homage to the father of Western Canada's competitive ski scene via this statue downtown (10 mins from RED).

The Order of the Red Tomatoes

Unique to RED’s appeal is the scavenger hunt you can do while in a lift line here (not that there are many lines given the six chairs moving you about).

Try and source out the folks with the crocheted tomatoes on their helmets. These are your locals, The Order of the Red Tomatoes: a secret society where your après calendar for the season comes out in the fall and in order to stay in the club you gotta ski your age plus seven every season.

Rafters, RED's on-mountain pub, you'll need about three minutes there to appreciate why it wins for top après spot.

Do that math: if you are 40, you better ski 47 days or you are out! You're 70? They expect to see you 77 times on them slopes (no fear, being in the order comes with a reserved après spot in Rafters).

Why do they have this Order? Because it's…

For the Love of the ShRED

RED has been named Canada's #1 Ski Town by USA Today for two years running.

Why? By the numbers, it serves up some of the best alpine, glade and cruiser skiing you'll find, on:
5 mountain peaks
300 inches annual snow
3000 feet vertical drop
4000 acres of terrain
= simply put, that's a LOT of shredding to be had

Rafters on-mountain is ranked top après spot in Canada many times over.

Why? Because it's Rossland and ski time around here is a big deal.

Nancy Greene became one of the world’s top skiing icons.

Why? Because she grew up on RED’s slopes; this is a place that lives to ski.

Rossland Winter Carnival has been going on for so long they’ve lost track of how many years.

Why? They’ve always been ahead by a century in this part of BC.

There are 100 more reasons, but it all boils down to one thing: RED is a bucket-list mountain, one of the ultimate destinations for any skier and snowboarder. Make this the season you find out your own why at RED.
