Getting To Newell
Drive from Calgary: It’s about a two-hour drive east on the Trans-Canada Hwy/AB-1 E.
Drive from Edmonton: It’s about a 4 ½-hour drive south on the AB-855 S and AB-36 S.
Drive from Regina: It’s about a six-hour drive west on the Trans-Canada Hwy/SK-1 W.
Morning – Crawling Valley Reservoir
Before heading to the lake, take a pitstop in Brooks, at The Steaming Cup for a quick bite to eat and a piping hot cup of fresh coffee before venturing to Kinbrook Island Provincial Park only 15 minutes away.
Ice fishing is all about having the right tools, the right lines and staying comfortable so if its your first time out, consider a local guide to point you in the right direction with the right tools. Pull up a stool at the bar, order a pint of the X-Cross Red Ale and brag about your catch, both on the line and in your hand.
