The goal of the Canadian Ski Council is to increase participation in recreational snowboarding, alpine and cross-country skiing in Canada through marketing and promotion, communication and cooperation, research and development, and advocacy. The Ski Council's most recognized program is the Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass program which provides grade 4 or 5 students (9 or 10 years old) the opportunity to ski and ride for free all winter long.

Cross Country Alberta (CCA) is the sport governing body for cross-country skiing in Alberta. As such the Association partners with the other provincial/territorial sport governing bodies for cross-country skiing and together they constitute a national sport organization – Cross Country Canada. Cross Country Alberta is an incorporated, not-for-profit, club-based Association of 5,072 members.
