KIMBERLEY, B.C. - Nothing beats longer days on the hill, complemented with Mother Nature delivering some amazing conditions.

With spring around the corner, it’s time to book those March Break getaways with your family and friends, and get in on the awesome storms that deliver plenty of powder. And, Kimberley Ski Resort is no stranger to these awesome storms.

Longer, warmer days

Jesse Ferguson, executive director at Tourism Kimberley backs this up: “February and March have equally awesome powder days but March may be the best as the temperature is warmer and the days longer.”

With some heavy-hitting resorts in the general area, Kimberley holds its own in regards to conditions, terrain and the overall vibe of the town.

“Kimberley doesn’t generally get tossed in the mix with the other ski giants in the area, but it is an exceptional mountain, says Ferguson.“ There are lots of glades, longs runs, and steeps that most people don’t think we have.”

Get ready for Spring Splash

To complement the amazing conditions and terrain, Kimberley also hosts a variety of events, the most notable being the Spring Slash at Kimberley Ski Resort.

“Spring Splash is the final weekend of the ski season," says Ferguson. “Try to ski across our pond without sinking, and don’t forget to bring a towel.”

Matt Ballard, Kimberley local, agrees that the events is a must do: “This is where the party really gets going: live music, crazy costumes, Dummy Downhill, and of course, the Spring Splash.”

More spring events, with a little Nordic on the side

Be sure to check out the live music the resort offers every weekend. And, get in on some sweet spring laps in the park at the Greasy Rail Jam March 9, or check out the Freeheel Festival, an event for all those talented telemarkers out there.

Talk about covering the whole something-for-everyone gauntlet. There’s even a Nordic trail system around the town that is highly recommended by locals.

“Kimberley also has one of the best Nordic ski areas in Western Canada,” says Ferguson. “There are endless groomed trails and even a three-kilometre loop that is lit for night skiing.”

The storms that blow in as spring nears,  leave plenty of powder to play in at Kimberley.

Spring savings

With spring conditions also comes some sweet spring savings. There are plenty of options that won’t break the bank when it comes to accommodations in Kimberley.

If you and your buddies are looking to light it up on a low budget this month, Ferguson says,“There are several condos on the hill that sleep up to eight people and can be as low as $25 per person per night.”

Ferguson also suggests checking out Kimberley Snowmobile Adventures. “Try their evening trip. They’ll take you to a secluded viewpoint from which the sunset on the Rockies is jaw dropping.“

Matt Mosteller, vice-president of marketing and sales at Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, adds, “Kimberley has a super full events calendar.” He notes the highlights such as the 30th Annual Bavarian Iron Legs in March and the Spring Splash/Dummy Downhill on closing weekend April 6 to 7.
