FERNIE, BC - The official Opening of Fernie Alpine Resort has skiers and riders stoked to enjoy the deepest snow in the Canadian Rockies! On Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, Fernie Alpine Resort will have the most runs open and be the only ski resort in Canada with the entire mountain open.
All lifts will be open to service all FIVE alpine bowls, giving access to over 90 runs. The Fernie Alpine Resort rail park will also open for this weekend, in addition to the Minute Maid Wilderness Adventure Park learning area.
The Early Opening this past weekend was a huge hit! Droves of skiers and snowboarders flocked to Fernie Alpine Resort to enjoy the deepest powder in the Canadian Rockies. With a current snow pack of 86 cm, two more snowfalls in this week's forecast should push it over the 1 metre mark! This weekend looks to be a repeat of the fantastic powder skiing when the Timber, Currie, and Siberia Bowls open for the first time this season.
Fernie Alpine Resort is regularly named one of the Top Ski Resorts in North America, and is home to over 29 feet of legendary powder each winter, the “Griz” and more. Fernie Alpine Resort is part of the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) Family.
