Can it get any better? Hell yeah! Its time for spring skiing!
Ya gotta totally love this time of year. More daylight, extended hours for the lifts and its warmer – and I mean waay warmer. Best part is, every resort is cranking up the activities to keep you playing in the snow. Some resorts are banking on record breaking snow conditions to take us well into May but here is a round up of activities to plan for right away. Don’t forget the sun screen and the eye protection!!!
SilverStar has epic snow
“The tops of light posts are poking out of glacial snowbanks!” says Oscar Gordon, Media & Marketing Manager for SilverStar Mountain Resort. People can’t find their cars under all the snow and they are tunneling to get through the snow. What does that mean? It means the season is ending on an incredible BANG! SilverStar will host their annual Slush Cup on Saturday April 7, Sunday April 8th is the last day of skiing and the annual Retro Day.

Kicking Horse offers new events to rock the spring season
Kicking Horse never goes out without a bucking good time. From now until the end of the season there will be parties almost every weekend. Check out the new Darkside Banked Slalom on March 16-18. IT’s a snowboard-only event using the best natural terrain BC can toss out. If you are usually a skier – don’t despair. They have a competition for you too. Rent a board for the Skiers-On-Boards There is $5K up for grabs! Don’t forget the last of the spring skiing is on April 14th and 15th. The Dummy Downhill is on April 14th and the Slush Cup & Pig Roast follows on Sunday April 15.
Revy boasts best snow in a decade
A storm brew through on March 3rd, putting the resort in overdrive. They have seen over TEN Metres of snow to date and that’s a whole metre more than last year at this time. Wrapping the season is bitter sweet. To cap off the banner year, Revelstoke gives back to the community with Local’s Day on April 8th. Bring proof of residency to get 10-10-10. Ten bucks for a lift ticket, a rental package and a lesson. How cool is that. The rest of us will have to just dream of being a local for the rest of the season. April 15th is the last day of skiing.
Whistler is whistling a happy tune
Hi ho, hi ho…it’s a big pile of snow! Whistler has well over ten metres of snow with a solid base of nearing 3 metres. While Whistler Mountain will pack it in for the season on April 22, you can count on Blackcomb Mountain to keep the lifts spinning until May 21st. But before that happens there is tons to do. Oakley Week is March 14-18 and tucked into the same time is the Whistler’s Junior Freeski Challenge. Check back next week for more events.

Castle is king of the snow fort this year
Did you hear? Fresh snow is still on the horizon for Castle Mountain. There is powder planned for the weekend that might push them over 10 metres for the season. Every Saturday until the end of the season tap your toes with live music during the Beats in the Base at Castle Mountain. March 10th will be the Freeride Festival Weekend. Stay for the special showing of TGR’s Rogue Elements movie in the day lodge at 7 pm. Make sure you bring the family for March 31st weekend – the Easter Bunny plans to make an appearance as do crazy people participating in the Spring Fest festivities. Got a cardboard box? Bring it for the Carboard Canoe race. Got a swimsuit? Bring it too for the Slush Pit. April 7-8 is the last weekend for the season come for the Spring Sting rail jam.
