One Bad Son

If the greatest rock and roll stories involve some sort of underdog, One Bad Son is the Rocky Balboa of Canadian rock. With an over the top live show drawing comparisons to energy-heavy bands like the Who, Zeppelin, and early AC/DC, and a writing style in the vein of Soundgarden and Thin Lizzy, the band is finally getting the attention it deserves on a national level after slugging it out for years in obscurity.

After 5 years of making waves in their hometown of Saskatoon, SK, the band has recently moved to Vancouver to start riding these waves.

After winning a province-wide competition to open for Godsmack in front of 3000, the band was then awarded an opening slot for Default and Buckcherry in 2008. That show resulted in interest from Default drummer Danny Craig in producing their next album.

‘Rustbucket’, the advance single done with Danny, was released in the summer of 2009 and became a surprise hit, being picked up by over 20 stations in the West. It became the most requested song of the summer in their hometown of Saskatoon, and was named the Top New Rock Song of 2009 on Red Deer’s Z99, beating out singles from Pearl Jam, Them Crooked Vultures, and more. Not bad for a radio push that was 100% DIY.

In the past 6 months, the band was voted ‘Group of the Year’ in Saskatchewan (www.thesasktop30.com), they have signed a management deal with Lenny Johnson and Union Entertainment NYC, they’ve added entertainment lawyer Jonathan Simkin to their team, and they are now in the process of finishing the remainder of their 3rd album in Vancouver.

In a world of backing tracks, auto-tune, and pop princesses, One Bad Son is everything real Rock and Roll should be about. They are now poised for their round with the champ. Come see it from the front row.
