Snow is the foundation of the skiing and boarding experience, and the Coldsmoke Powder Fest—held at the beautiful Whitewater Ski Resort in Nelson, BC—celebrates it like no other event.
The three-day festival is packed with opportunities for people to celebrate the backcountry experience. There are clinics from beginner to advanced levels, where people learn skills like route finding, skiing style for off-piste, avalanche training, and telemark skiing.
Taking place from February 24-27th, the Coldsmoke Powder Fest is packed with clinics and backcountry travel & freeski competitions that will test the fittest folks out there; and, of course, the après ski scene will be packed. Dances, music, and socials to celebrate fine days in the mountains reward all in attendance. On Friday night there will a ‘Toast to the Kootenays’ film fest that will showcase some of the very best video, imagery, and multi-media presentations to emerge from the Kootenays over the last decade and beyond. On Saturday night, join us up at Whitewater Lodge for the Buff-EH and Kootenay Hootenanny Party. It will feature a ton of the Kootenays finest talent, which is guaranteed to entertain you all night long!
The Coldsmoke Powderfest is one of your only opportunities to ski with legends such as Eric Pehota, Alison Gannett, and Greg Hill, and have these experts help you hone your skills. The event is for every skill level and every type of snow enthusiast out there, so come and help celebrate the magical coldsmoke powder that frequents the Kootenays.
During the day there are a variety of clinics and events to keep you busy, not to mention there will be tons of demos from great companies such as Rossignol so that you can try out next year’s gear.
