    Fernie is a ski town where you can feast on enchiladas from a Mexican diner while the spicy Curry Bowl awaits at the ski resort. Just a two-hour drive from Calgary, you'll find powder-filled days paired with this friendly former mining town with a rugged charm.  Fernie and its namesake alpine resort are blessed by snow gods. His name is The Griz and legend has it that he lives above Polar Peak and bestows the slopes with a snowy bounty. Each year the resort receives well over 30 feet of snow.

    Food is no problem. There are five eateries on the slopes from the Lost Boys Mountaintop Cafe to fine dining at the Cirque Restaurant and Bar. In town there are dozens of restaurants to choose from.

    Getting There

    Fernie Alpine Resort is located in the south-east corner of the B.C. Rockies on Highway No.3 approximately 60 km (40 miles) from the Alberta and U.S. borders. It is 5 km (3 miles) from the City of Fernie and only 1.5km up the hill from the highway intersection.

    Driving

    Fernie is a 3.5 hour drive from Calgary, 6.5 hour drive from Edmonton, 2 hour drive from Kalispell, Montana, and a 4-hour drive from Spokane, Wash.

    Flights

    The Calgary International Airport welcomes travellers from around the world all day long. Rental cars are available in the airport complex.

    Shuttles

    Greyhound Bus lines departs Calgary twice daily for Fernie.
    The Fernie Shuttle makes multiple pick-ups at eight locations in town every day during the ski season. Reservations are required.
