SUN PEAKS, BC — Located within the Cahilty Lodge, Memories is an ideal place to take your family for a relaxing dinner after a tiring day on the slopes.
"Fun, friendly, family comfort food," said Jason Hawker, the restaurant's head chef.
Until last summer, Memories was operated under a different name: Macker's. But when the previous owners decided to sell, John Douglas and the ownership group at the Cahilty Lodge jumped on the opportunity to take control of the restaurant.
"It was just a perfect fit. The restaurant was located right within the Lodge, anyway, so it was the perfect opportunity to take complete control of the property."
By that time Macker's had become a sports bar, so the first phase of renovations was turning Macker's (now renamed Memories) into a more family-friendly environment.
"We just decided to take a different route. The Lodge is known for it's family-friendly atmosphere, so we felt that the restaurant ought to be an extension of that. We definitely wanted more of a restaurant than a bar."

Memories is situated perfectly within the village. It's far enough removed from the centre that it avoids most of the hustle and bustle, yet it's still close to all major accommodations (especially the Cahilty Lodge).
And let's not forget that, since it's located right at the base of the mountain, you can ski in/ski out for apres.
"If you're coming in off the ski hill for apres, definitely make a meal of our appetizers. They change almost every day, so there'll be something new each time you come here. For dinner, though, we have everything from nice light burgers to bigger entre-sized meals that feature chicken and pork."
As per Hawker's request, I decided upon the quarter roast chicken dinner, complete with potatoes, fresh zucchini and cauliflower, and a dinner roll, all smothered in delicious gravy. It was like Thanksgiving dinner in January.
In addition to the quarter chicken, I'd recommend the chicken burger with sweet potato fries, as well as the chili. There wasn't a dissatisfied face at our table. The bar also makes a dynamite caesar.
"If you're on the hunt for a comfortable, friendly atmosphere – somewhere nice to sit with your friends and family after a great day on the hill –then make memories with us."
