BANFF, AB — It appears Albertans love Sunshine Village as much as Sunshine loves them. For the second year running, Sunshine Village is the clear favourite snow resort in the judgment of the Albertan skiers and snowboarders.
Sunshine was the Gold Medal winner in the Calgary Herald 2009 Readers’ Choice Award for Top Ski Resort.
"It’s so great to see our hard work recognized," says Doug Firby, associate director of communications for Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. "The Alberta market has been just so important to us. Clearly, they recognize not only our exceptional snow, but also our friendly staff who go the extra mile."
Sunshine added to its family friendly facilities in December, with the long-anticipated opening of the 30-room wing of the Sunshine Mountain Lodge. The new premium rooms and lofts suites accommodate as many as six guests in luxury.
The full-service hotel also features a full range of dining options, a spa, Banff’s largest hot pool, and evening activities geared for the entire family. As always, though, Sunshine’s reputation is built on its world-famous champagne powder snow.
"Our seven-month season is the longest in the Rockies," says Firby. "Skiers and riders can count on having great snow conditions right through until the May long weekend."
