KANANASKIS, AB – Nakiska is breaking skier visit records due to outstanding snow conditions and because guests have discovered all the recent enhancements including trail improvements and the addition of ski runs, the new Monster Glades, snowmaking enhancements, added animation to the family learning area, and improvements to both the mid-mountain and day lodge.
Working closely with Travel Alberta and their marketing efforts for the Alberta Rockies has also been a contributive factor, the venture having brought awareness to Nakiska’s significant enhancements.
Both International and local guests are providing consistent positive feedback regarding the new enhancements at Nakiska. Guests regularly comment on how much more skiing they get at Nakiska because of the Gold Chair Express' new 5 min. ride to the top of the mountain. Those seeking the exercise benefits of skiing are frequenting Nakiska more regularly as they are able to get in more runs in a shorter period of time than ever before. The Gold Chair Express has also significantly enhanced the race training experience for athletes by making their training time more efficient and ultimately effective due to shorter breaks between runs.
Nakiska is also very proud to play a key role in preparing Canadian athletes for future Olympics as the National Training Centre for Alpine Canada Alpin and also to be host for the largest base of local ski clubs of any Alberta resort.
More and more families are getting into the sport of skiing because of Nakiska's fantastic family learning area and reputation for being Calgary's learning mountain. "The New Monster Glades have added Big Mountain-style skiing to Nakiska" said Matt Mosteller, VP of Marketing & Sales for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. "Now families can have it all at Nakiska. One can enjoy Alberta's largest Magic Carpet while they are learning, another can carve the 2555 ft. vertical of the best groomed slopes in the Rockies, and another can be skiing powder through the trees in the new Monster Glades."
As an Alberta Promise resort, Nakiska is committed to getting children healthy and active with the Husky Snow Stars Grade 2 FunPass. Nakiska is proud to continue efforts for the enjoyment of skiing in Alberta!
Nakiska is famous for its world-class grooming, training facilities and close proximity to Calgary. Known as “Calgary’s Closest Mountain”, Nakiska was the site of the alpine events of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games and is part of the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) Family. RCR is one of the largest ski resort owners/operators in North America, owning five ski resorts across Canada, including Fernie Alpine Resort and Kimberley Alpine Resort in British Columbia, Nakiska in Alberta; and Mont-Sainte-Anne and Stoneham in Québec.
