Getting there

Marmot Basin is located in the beautiful and  rugged Jasper National Park, part of the World UNESCO Canadian Rockies Parkss, 20 minutes south of the Town of Jasper, a 3.5 hour  drive from Edmonton, Alberta and 6.5 hour drive from Calgary, Alberta. The nearest airport is the Edmonton International Airport which receives direct and one-stop flights from most North American and European cities.

Shuttle service is available from Jasper-Edmonton Connector or Sun Dog Tours to the Town of Jasper. Shuttle service to the resort is available at most Jasper hotels. Train travel is also highly recommended with VIA Rail Canada’s Edmonton-Jasper Snow Train.

 

Mountain Stats

Season: Mid November - Early May

Terrain: 86 trails, 1675 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain.

  • 30% Novice, 30% Intermediate, 20% Advanced and 20% Expert; evenly split on upper and lower mountain.
  • Longest run: 5.6 km (3.5 miles).
  • Treed trails in lower area; high alpine, open bowls and chutes in the upper area.

Elevations: Top: 8,570 ft (2, 612 m), Base: 5, 570 ft ( 1,697 m), Vertical Drop: 3,000 ft (915 m)

  • Marmot Basin has the highest base elevation of all Canadian ski areas.

Lift System: 8 lifts – Two high speed quads, one quad chair, one triple chair, two double chairs, one T-bar and one magic carpet.

Snowfall: 400 cm (160 inches) average per season.

Average Temps: December -11°C (12°F), January -7°C (19°F), February -3°C (27°F), March +1°C (34°F), April +6° (43°F)

Rentals: State-of-the-art Rental & Repair shop offering the latest in skis, snowboards, boots, poles, high performance skis, shaped skis, ski boards and allowing for non-consecutive multi-day rentals.

Snow Sports School: The Snow Sports School offers lessons for first time skiers and snowboarders, high performance clinics, freeride clinics, private lessons and a variety of children's programs.

Day Care: The Little Rascals Nursery is available for children 19 months to 6 years of age.

Day Lodges: Three mountain day lodges; one at the base area and two at mid-mountain. Three lounges, 2 cafeterias, 2 dining rooms, several outdoor sun decks and bag lunch areas.

Terrain Park: Sponsored by Rogers, featuring various rail slides, table tops, and jumps.

Retail Shop: The Outer Limits Shop is a great place to buy gifts, accessories, clothing and souvenirs.
