Celebrating 150 years of past, present and future winter culture in Western Canada
What: A content and influencer marketing production promoting to Canadians to get active this winter. Much of the content will revolve around the generation of an 18 part micro-documentary series, each of nine minutes in length, that includes a collection of inspirational stories from the past, present and future years showcasing Canadians’ love of winter. The content will be marketed across a series of influencer networks, with the social media and content marketing working to translate audience interest into click throughs and ultimately sign ups for audiences to get active this winter.
Canada is a winter nation, home to many citizens who have a spirit for outdoor adventure. The great outdoors is part of the Canadian fabric. Our history is filled with tales of perseverance, journeys, exploration and adventure in the midst of natural spaces. The aim of the production is to remind and reaffirm this trailblazing, outdoorsy spirit, while at the same time showcasing Canadian winter athletes, organizations, innovators, and influencers - past, present and future.
The goal of the programming is to engage Canadians with stories featuring characters inside the winter adventure industry and whose stories can inspire more people to get outside and be active in the winter months. This programming will play up investments the Federal Government is making to encourage healthy choices: http://news.gc.ca/web/article-en.do?nid=1072199&tp=1
Carried through on the SnowSeekers’ and our influencers website and social media channels will be complementary content about the characters showcased in the production with links to local and relevant clubs or associations they could be connected with. That allows us to take the online into the offline, connecting audiences to healthy, active lifestyle choices.
Seekers Media’s will leverage Canada’s 150th birthday with audiences, inspiring them to make choices that will let them help them have their own memorable winter moments. Historical footage – for example, acquired through museums – will allow audiences to learn about the experiences of Canada’s “powder pioneers.” Meanwhile, with 15-plus years’ experience in Western Canada’s ski and snowboard industry, Seekers will also deliver its followers’ stories from present winter culture.
The relationship Seekers’ enjoys with the Canadian Olympic Committee and organizations, including Alpine Canada, Canada Snowboard and Canada FreeStyle Ski Association, will ensure the production is balanced with past and present content while through the eyes of up- and- coming Olympians – the future!
Produced by award- winning producer, Jim Barr.
Co-produced by Chris Wheeler, long-time video production specialist and co-producer of the TELUS Optik funded SnowSeekers Series 2 (2015).
Seekers’ production plans will expand upon our past production talents with new ideas and new equipment to continue to raise the bar on what we produce. The production will be produced in quality 4K, and will include an array of engaging production techniques with tools like drones and gimbals to ensure strong, engaging content (perfect for both TV and social media).
NOTE: 20% of the production will be filmed in 360 degrees - allowing SnowSeekers and our influencer network to carry 360 videos and/or have virtual reality capabilities moving forward. Here is an example https://youtu.be/VVRAB4eoPbk. You can enjoy the 360 experience either by clicking the pan button in the upper left corner with your mouse (if watching by desktop need to have the latest version of the Chrome browser).
From these samples produced by Chris Wheeler, we hope you can appreciate the style we will achieve in this upcoming SnowSeekers’ production. Here are some examples of the dynamic movement shots that we are favouring lately (camera with gimbal setup). http://tinyurl.com/CultureCariboo or https://youtu.be/XIxSWqRwBBM
